Sony to launch PS3 Video Service in July

Sources indicate that Sony is going to launch a Video service for PS3 this summer, with the announcement being made in E3, the world’s biggest Gaming Press Meet. Sources also indicate that PS3 has been recently been in talks with various studios for license of different movies and TV shows for the PS3 store. Sources say Sony has been thinking about taking on Microsoft Xbox 360 Marketplace for video downloads.

Sony has tried to launch a digital download service twice before but failed miserably all the time. In 2007 Sony sold Movielink to Blockbuster Video for 7Million$ after disappointing sales. In March Sony pulled out its iTunes Store Killer, Sony Connect. Sources also indicate that they expect Sony to launch a fully redesigned version of PS3 with smaller Cell Processor to reduce manufacturing costs. Sony has been selling the PS3 for loss till now.
